WeSmartOutline is a Windows desktop application developed by WeSmartcorp that allows users to generate and manage content outlines and optionally back up and restore their workspace using Google Drive.
This section describes how WeSmartOutline accesses, uses, stores, and shares Google user data obtained through Google APIs.
Data Accessed
When you choose to connect WeSmartOutline to your Google account, the application may access the following types of Google user data, depending on the scopes you approve during the Google OAuth consent flow:
-
Google Drive files created or managed by WeSmartOutline
-
Backup files (e.g., ZIP or similar archive files) that contain your WeSmartOutline workspace data (such as project configuration files, outlines, and related documents).

Metadata of these backup files, including file name, file ID, size, mime type, creation time, and last modified time.
-
-
Google Drive folder information
-
The specific folder(s) on your Google Drive where WeSmartOutline uploads and stores its backup files (for example, a folder named “WeSmartOutline” or a folder ID you configure).
-
-
Basic account information required by Google APIs
-
In some cases, WeSmartOutline may receive your Google account ID and/or email address as part of the standard OAuth 2.0 flow, solely for technical purposes such as associating backups with your account and troubleshooting authentication issues.
-
WeSmartOutline does not intentionally access or read any other files on your Google Drive that are not created by WeSmartOutline or explicitly selected by you for backup/restore operations.

WeSmartOutline uses the Google user data described above only for the following purposes:

Data Storage & Protection
On your device
-
WeSmartOutline stores its configuration files, license information, and local logs in the application data folder on your device (for example, a folder under
%AppData%\WeSmartOutlineon Windows). -
Backup data itself (your project files, outlines, and generated documents) is stored in your local workspace folder that you configure within the app.
-
Access to these files is protected by your operating system’s file permissions. We recommend using a secure user account and disk encryption where appropriate.
On Google Drive
-
When you enable Google Drive integration, backup files are stored in your own Google Drive account, in a folder created or selected by you for WeSmartOutline backups.
-
WeSmartcorp does not copy or mirror your backup files onto our own servers. Backup content remains in your Google Drive and on your local device.
Access tokens and authentication
-
OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens required to access Google Drive are stored only on your device in the application’s configuration area.
-
These tokens are used solely by the WeSmartOutline application to perform backup and restore operations on your behalf and are not shared with any third party.
WeSmartcorp implements reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we encourage you to take appropriate precautions to protect your device and your Google account.
Data Retention & Deletion
Backups on Google Drive
-
Backup files created by WeSmartOutline remain in your Google Drive account until you delete them.
-
You can delete specific backups or the entire backup folder at any time using Google Drive or using the delete functions provided in WeSmartOutline (if available in your version).
Local data on your device
-
Configuration files, license data, and logs stored by WeSmartOutline on your device are retained for as long as the application is installed or until you manually delete them.
-
You may delete your local workspace folder and configuration folder at any time. Doing so may remove your local backups, settings, and license information.
Revoking Google access
-
You can disconnect WeSmartOutline from your Google account at any time by:
-
Using the “Disconnect” or “Sign out” option inside the application (if available), and/or
-
Going to your Google Account settings → “Security” → “Third-party access” (or “Apps with access to your account”) and revoking access for “WeSmartOutline”.
-
-
After access is revoked, WeSmartOutline will no longer be able to read or write any data in your Google Drive. Existing backup files in your Google Drive will remain there until you delete them.
